Denmark, Ireland World Cup Playoff Clash In The Balance After Stalemate

first_imgThe 2018 FIFA World Cup playoff clash between Denmark and Republic of Ireland is in the balance after both sides played out an uninspiring goalless draw in the first leg.Republic of Ireland would be slight favourites ahead of the second leg in Dublin on Tuesday due to home advantage though Martin O’Neil and his players would need to improve their output in front of their fans. For Denmark, they didn’t secure any lead going into the second leg but any form of score draw should be enough to send them through to next year’s World Cup in Russia.Scandinavian nation Denmark qualified for the playoffs after they finished in second place behind Group E winners Poland while the Republic of Ireland also booked their spot with a second place finish behind Serbia in Group D of the qualifiers.RelatedDenmark Thrash Ireland To Qualify For Russia 2018November 15, 2017In “FIFA”Russia 2018 Playoffs (UEFA): Italy Handed Tough Sweden Test; Home Nations Get Tricky OpponentsOctober 17, 2017In “FIFA”2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Review (UEFA): Poland Become Sixth European Nation In RussiaOctober 9, 2017In “FIFA”last_img read more

GAC Unveils Ebola Audit Report March 30

first_imgThe General Auditing Commission (GAC), through its Auditor General, has informed the Liberian Senate that the Commission hopes to present the audit final report of the Ebola Trust Fund on March 30.According to the communication addressed to the Secretary of the Senate for onward submission to the Senate plenary and signed by Auditor General Madam Yusador S. Gaye, “The delay in the submission of the audit report was due largely to delays in receiving documents requested by GAC from many IPs (Implementing Partners) during the detailed preparation process of the audit.”Madam Gaye further informed the Senate plenary that her Commission has completed the detailed planning and execution process of the audit, and that a “Draft Management Letter (DML)” was subsequently issued to the management of the Incident Management System (IMS) for onward submission to the various Implementing Partners on March 4.Madam Gaye explained that a deadline of March 9 was set as the final date to receive the DML with responses from the IMS addressing the various issues raised during the audit process. The Auditor General narrated that although a timeline was established to receive responses, regrettably, “up to today we are still receiving responses from the various IPs addressing the numerous assertions and further extensions have been requested.”To give a final chance to the IPs, the GAC said an absolute final deadline for the final submission of the DML, with responses to the GAC, was set for March 24, last Tuesday. It may be recalled that last September, Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence wrote a letter requesting a mandate from plenary to have all Ebola activities audited by the GAC.Senator Lawrence’s request was granted and approved by plenary and a letter was sent to the GAC from the leadership of the Senate mandating the GAC to audit all Ebola activities funded by and through the government. But having waited for well over six months, the Grand Bassa lawmaker again last week raised the red flag, reminding plenary that the GAC needs to comply with the Senate’s request to conduct the audit.  She requested an additional mandate from plenary to have the GAC brief plenary on the status of the audit report.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
