Kingsley Coman’s opening goal in the Champions League final was the 500th Bayern Munich have scored in the competition, joining Real Madrid and Barcelona in reaching the tally. The winger headed home from a Joshua Kimmich cross to give FCB the lead in the 60th minute of their clash with Paris Saint-Germain, which until that point had been a tight affair with few opportunities. Hansi Flick’s side are just the third team in the history of the competition to reach that mark, with Real Madrid out ahead on 567 goals and Barcelona second on 517. Meanwhile, the only other outfits to have notched more than 300 goals in Europe’s most illustrious club competition are Manchester United, who have tallied on 373 occasions, and Juventus, who have found the net 306 times. The Bundesliga side have shared the goals around impressively throughout their teams over the years, but Robert Lewandowski leads the way on 51 strikes from just 62 outings, including 15 in what has been a remarkable competition for him this year. Team-mate Thomas Muller stands second in their all-time list, having notched 46 goals over the course of his career. Three other players in Bayern’s ranks have scored more than 20 goals, with Netherlands legend Arjen Robben having scored 25, Mario Gomez 23 and Giovani Elber 22. Coman, meanwhile, stands on eight goals after his historic strike at Lisbon’s Stadium of Light. Bayern are long established as one of the most storied teams in the history of European competition, having won the European Cup on five occasions. read also:UCL: Okocha wishes PSG victorious outing against dreaded Bayern Munich Prior to Sunday’s clash with PSG, they had won the Champions League twice. Bayern have been in particularly impressive form on the continent this season, having scored 19 goals in six knockout matches, while they tallied an incredible 24 in their six league games, taking their aggregate to 43. Among their most impressive displays have been a 7-2 win away against Tottenham and a stunning 8-2 success in the quarter-final against Barcelona. LAS VEGAS – The Drake University softball team continues the 2016 season with a trip west to Las Vegas for the Alexis Park Resort Classic hosted by UNLV. Drake (6-3) is scheduled to play five games in Vegas, starting with matchups against New Mexico State and Oregon on Friday followed by Saint Mary’s and UNLV on Saturday before the tournament finale against Florida Atlantic on Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday games will have first pitches of 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. CST, respectively, while Sunday’s first pitch versus the Owls will be at 11 a.m. CST. Drake travels to Vegas on the heels of a 9-2 comeback win over the Arkansas Razorbacks last Sunday in the final game of the Razorback Invitational. Trailing 2-1 entering the sixth inning the Bulldogs seized control of the contest against the host school as their offense erupted for six runs in the frame. Junior Kaitlyn Finneran (Morrison, Ill.) started the comeback with a bases-loaded double that drove in two runs. Sophomore pitcher Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) tossed a complete game and allowed just two runs while recording six strikeouts as she improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season. Finneran and Newman have been instrumental in Drake’s strong start to the year. Finneran is hitting .414 behind a team-leading 12 hits with a team-high seven runs scored. Newman has four complete games with a 2.40 ERA and 48 strikeouts. A pair of freshmen, Kennedy Frank (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Gabbie Jonas (Omaha, Neb.), are off to hot starts at the plate in their first seasons, both are hitting a team-best .429. Frank leads the team in home runs with three and runs batted in with 10. Drake starts the tournament against two tough opponents in New Mexico State and Oregon. The Aggies own a 13-6 overall record while the Ducks are 12-4 and ranked No. 7/8 in NFCA/USA Softball polls. Saint Mary’s is 3-7 overall and UNLV owns an 8-8 record while Florida Atlantic is a stellar 13-2 on the season. A nine-game spring break road trip is next on the schedule for the Bulldogs after the tournament in Las Vegas. The trip begins with neutral games against Ohio on March 12 & 13 in Bloomington, Ind., followed by a doubleheader against Indiana on March 14. Drake will then play at Saint Louis on March 15 and at SIUE on March 16 before opening Missouri Valley Conference play at Evansville on March 19 & 20.Print Friendly Version
Tamil Thalaivas bounced back from an 11-point loss to Bengaluru Bulls in their first home match to tie the game against Puneri Paltan. Their raider V. Ajith Kumar has been in tremendous form in the team’s home leg, having scored 12 raid points from two matches.Rahul ‘Showman’ Chaudhari also finished their last match with eight raid points to his name. They will hope ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur finds form in the home leg soon which could make the raiding trio a big challenge for any defence. The team missed the services of Manjeet Chhillar in their previous match but Ran Singh did not let his absence be felt with another 4 tackle point performance, which included only one unsuccessful tackle. His impact on the match could be vital against a Deepak Hooda who is in prime form this season.Raids that rained points in Week 4 of #VIVOProKabaddi Season 7!Which one was your favourite?Tell us in the replies and stay tuned to Star Sports and Hotstar for all the action! #IsseToughKuchNahi pic.twitter.com/Yjzsv2nUWO— ProKabaddi (@ProKabaddi) August 20, 2019 Jaipur Pink Panthers have been led from the front by Deepak Hooda, who is currently the fifth most successful raider of the season. They also have the most successful defender of the season so far – Sandeep Dhull – in their ranks, which has allowed them to maintain their position at the top of the standing.Though the team lost their previous match to U.P. Yoddha, Hooda once again starred for them with nine raid points. The team, however, missed a consistent display from their Corners Amit Hooda and Sandeep Dhull, who only combined for two tackle points in the match. If the duo fire for the team, Tamil Thalaivas’ experienced raiding unit could find the going very tough. Deepak Narwal and Nilesh Salunke will also want to step up and contribute points in raids to take the pressure off Hooda.
