What is the Droid Razr Maxx

first_imgNote: Image is simulated and not an actual Verizon leak.Is the Droid Razr getting a sooner-than-expected sequel? The popular handset just launched last month, but in the world of Android handsets, it’s already nearly ready to get an AARP card. Leaked internal Verizon documents reveal that a mysterious Razr sequel, the Droid Razr Maxx, is already in the company’s systems. What will differentiate the Droid Razr Maxx? It’s all speculation at this point, as the name — seen in this Verizon system screen — is about the only thing we know:One possibility is that the Droid Razr Maxx will be the US version of HD Droid Razrs that have been popping up in China (below). They sport 4.5 inch 720p (1280×720) LCD displays, which would match them up evenly with the HTC Rezound. Other distinguishing features include improved Dolby audio and a ridiculously-high 13MP camera. The rest of the specs — including the 1.2GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage — are consistent with the current Droid Razr’s offerings. The US version of the Razr Maxx would naturally have LTE as well.Another possibility would be a slightly thicker Droid Razr with a bigger battery, but we wouldn’t bank on that. The “Maxx” part suggests some kind of upgrade over the Droid Razr, and — as much as LTE phones could use more juice — a bigger battery doesn’t make for good marketing. Additionally, if you make it thicker, its sexiest spec gets dampened. The Android smartphone market is a vicious rat race. One device can barely get on store shelves before rumors of a more-powerful successor begin to surface. As an Android fan, it’s easy to get swept up in bigger-better-faster-stronger mania, but, unless you have an unlimited bank account, at some point you need to simply appreciate the great phone you have. For many people, the Droid Razr is just that; don’t let its inevitable sequel spoil that.via Droid-Lifelast_img read more
